Nomination Summary for Pyrethrins & pyrethroids (N20407)

Nominated Substances: No Specific Substances or Agents are Selected for this Nomination

Nomination Date: 06/03/2004

Nominator: NIEHS

Rationale: Pyrethroids are a class of synthetic pesticides, long in use, but becoming more frequent in residential uses since the phaseout of certain organophosphates. Numerous data gaps are identified in the ATSDR Toxicological Profile. Much of the available toxicity data is not publicly available and is for commercial technical formulations, which may not be appropriate for addressing potential hazard concerns for specific isomers to which humans are exposed (e.g. via indoor dust, food residues).

NTP Principles: not specified
