Rationale: Beta-Pinene is used in the manufacture of terpene resins used primarily in the production of adhesives, and in the production of perfumes and flavors. Commercial grades are used as a starting material for lubricant additives and cutting oils. Beta-Pinene is found in turpentine, certain microbes, tobacco smoke, certain essential oils (e.g.: lemon, nutmeg, coriander, and cumin), pulp wood, cotton plant, and carrot roots. At least two potent anti-neoplastic products derived from "Rabdosia Rubescens" were found to contain Beta-Pinene. It is absorbed through human skin. It is an isomer of alpha-pinene, a known tumor promoter and structurally related to d-limonene and alpha-phellandrene.
