Rationale: Chromium picolinate is being marketed as a dietary supplement used for weight loss. A study conducted in 1995 by Dartmouth College & George Washington University found that chromium picolinate caused significant chromosome damage to Chinese hamster ovary cells when the rodents were exposed to a non-toxic dose. Damage was found to be dose-dependent.
