Testing Status of Melamine + Cyanuric Acid combination - 09074

CASRN: MELCYANCOMB

Related: 108-78-1; 108-80-5

Secondary:

  • 108-80-5 - Isocyanuric acid
  • 108-78-1 - Melamine

Known Uses

Melamine is used extensively by the industry in the preparation of polymers for the manufacture of a broad range of products, including countertops, fabrics, glues, houseware items, and flame retardants. Cyanuric acid, a deaminated derivative of melamine, is used in the preparation of herbicides, dyes, resins, and antimicrobial agents, and as a stabilizer and disinfectant in swimming pool water.

Short-Term Toxicity

  • 90 days (Gavage)  (C09074B)  Completed
    • Rats: F344 (NCTR)
    • Dose: Melamine: 0, 0.63, 1.25, 2.5, 5.0 or 10.0 mg/kg/bw/day followed by Cynuric acid 0, 0.63, 1.25, 2.5, 5.0 or 10.0 mg/kg/bw/day. Cynuric acid gavage will be within 10 minutes after melamine gavage; 100.0 mg/kg/bw/day melamine only and 100.0 mg/kg/bw/day melamine only; 24 male / 24 female dose..
