Known Uses

Solvent, component of gasoline, protective coatings, in manufacture of dyes, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, pesticides, paints, adhesives, indirect food additive for use as component of adhesives. A solvent, cleaning agent, degreaser & is a constituent of aviation & automobile fuels. Used in the production of benzoic acid, phthalate anhydride, & isophthalic & terephthalic acids & their dimethyl esters. Associated with tobacco: reported either as a natural component of tobacco, pyrolysis product (in tobacco smoke), or additive for one or more types of tobacco products.
