Chemical intermediate. Solvent for resins. In lacquer formation. Organic synthesis. And to prepare copolymers used in machine dishwashing products as alternatives to phosphorus- and nitrogen-containing detergents. Associated with tobacco: reported either as a natural component of tobacco, pyrolysis product (in tobacco smoke), or additive for one or more types of tobacco products.
