Known Uses

Solvent for ethers and esters. In manufacture of phenolic and furan resins. Chemical intermediate. Wetting agent. Liquid propellant. Flavoring agent, obtained from processing corncobs, coffee beans. Associated with tobacco: reported either as a natural component of tobacco, pyrolysis product (in tobacco smoke), or additive for one or more types of tobacco products.
