Known Uses

Degreaser, dry cleaning solvent, manufacture or organic chemicals and pharmaceuticals, heat exchange liquid, diluent in paints and adhesives, caffeine extractant, textile processing, solvent in production of color additives for food, cosmetics, drugs (HSDB 1990). Associated with tobacco: reported either as a natural component of tobacco, pyrolysis product (in tobacco smoke), or additive for one or more types of tobacco products.
