Known Uses

Solvent in the manufacture of wide variety of products - pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, dyes, polymers; detected in groundwater, drinking water, and wastewater. Widely used as inert substance in pesticides. Associated with tobacco: reported either as a natural component of tobacco, pyrolysis product (in tobacco smoke), or additive for one or more types of tobacco products.
