Known Uses

In perfumes and as flavor in foods and liquors (Merck 1989). Also used as an antimicrobial agent against acid-tolerant food microflora. Found naturally in tarragon, basil & fennel. Associated with tobacco: reported either as a natural component of tobacco, pyrolysis product (in tobacco smoke), or additive for one or more types of tobacco products.
