Known Uses

In organic syntheses, intermediate for dyes & hexafluorobenzene, fungicide for wheat, sunflower, manufacture of pentachlorophenol, a wood preservative; peptizing agent in the manufacture of rubber. Manufacture of pentachlorophenol, wood preservative; fungicide, seed treatment (control of wheat bunt); used in the production of aromatic fluorocarbons; organic synthesis; used to impregnate paper. Associated with tobacco: reported either as a natural component of tobacco, pyrolysis product (in tobacco smoke), or additive for one or more types of tobacco products.
