Known Uses

Solvent. Intermediate in synthesis of rubber accelerators, pharmaceuticals, dyes, insecticides. also used for the production of surface active agents and for the purification of penicillin and streptomycin. It is also present in certain plants, food, and in white wines. Associated with tobacco: reported either as a natural component of tobacco, pyrolysis product (in tobacco smoke), or additive for one or more types of tobacco products.
