Known Uses

TBB is an additive flame retardant. It is the major brominated component in the flame retardant mixture Firemaster 550 (FM550), the primary replacement for pentaBDEs in polyurethane foam. The other brominated chemical in Firemaster 550 is bis(2-ethylhexyl) tetrabromophthalate (TBPH). The approximate ratio of TBB/TBPH in FM550 is 4:1.
