Food additive for wheat flour, intermediate in manufacture of pharmaceuticals & herbicides, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic (Merck 1989) Iodoacetic acid has recently been recognized as a disinfection byproduct (DBP) associated with chloramination and chlorine dioxide.
