Integration of NAMs Data Into Regulatory Decision-making

ICCVAM promotes the development and validation of toxicity testing methods that protect human health and the environment while replacing, reducing, or refining animal use. ICCVAM also provides guidance to test method developers and facilitates collaborations that promote the development of new test methods.  To support these goals, ICCVAM presents Communities of Practice webinars to provide detailed information on a current topic relevant to alternative test method development.

This webinar, organized on behalf of ICCVAM by NICEATM, will discuss the integration of new approach methdologies (NAMs) into regulatory decision-making. This follows the release by several U.S. and international regulatory agencies of stepwise roadmaps to improve the human relevance of safety assessments by promoting the adoption of scientifically qualified or validated NAMs, including human-based in vitro systems, in silico modeling, and other emerging technologies. Speakers from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and European Food Safety Authority will discuss how NAMs data can be incorporated into regulatory decision-making through defined approaches, weight-of-evidence frameworks, and integrated approaches to testing and assessment.
