RoC Review of Kaposi Sarcoma-Associated Herpesvirus (KSHV)
Primary Uses or Exposures
- An enveloped double-stranded DNA gamma-2 herpesvirus.
- Thought to be spreads primarily via saliva, or blood from orogential sex, sharing needles, blood transfusions, or organ transplants.
- In endemic areas, KSHV is spread from mother to child and by close contact among family members.
